Oban Has Something for Everyone

Oban is a vibrant community with a growing population of 8,500. Whether you are attracted by the great outdoors, relish an environment steeped in music, culture and heritage, or simply enjoy fantastic cuisine, Oban (“The Seafood Capital of Scotland”) offers something for everyone!

Oban: One of the Best Communities in Scotland

There is a great community spirit that exists within Oban. This is reflected in community projects, regular local events and numerous clubs based around music, hobbies and sport.

Oban FM is our local community radio station started and run by a group of volunteers. LORN (Local Origins Rural network) is a local network which allows local business to work together to produce a sustainable community and includes local community producers market.

Atlantis Leisure is the result of community effort coming together to raise funds to build the facilities now available to all.

The most recent successful community project has been the local community purchase of the cinema following its closure Oban Phoenix Cinema.

Getting to Oban

Oban is easily accessible from central Scotland, with links by rail, bus and road and is only a couple of hours from Glasgow and Edinburgh international airports.

It also has regular links by air and sea to the many fascinating and spectacular islands which lie off the coast of Argyll and beyond.
